Salute to Wildlife Ice Carving Week

is the owner and lead carver of Sculpted Ice Works, located in Lakeville, PA, near Lake Wallenpaupack. He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management and Education. Prior to 2000, Mark held positions as executive chef, restaurant manager, food and beverage director, and college instructor. Introduced to the art of ice carving though his culinary training, he began carving again in 1995. He has competed in the annual Stowe, VT competition, earning first place in 2007. He placed fifth in the World Ice Art Championships in 2003. Mark has grown his business from a one-man operation in 1999 into a full service ice event company with a staff of twenty. The team at Sculpted Ice Works has designed and constructed a number of large scale projects including a 900-block Ice Wall for a fashion show in New York City; the annual Clarks Summit Festival of Ice, Clarks Summit, PA; an outdoor ice bar for the Rusty Nail Ice Bar in Stowe, VT; and annually creating Crystal Cabin Fever, a 100-ton themed ice display with a giant ice slide in Lakeville, PA. The company manufactures over 1000 crystal clear ice blocks per month in it's new facility. Mark will be using his talents to coordinate the Dec 27th ice carving competition. Neil Trimper ANACONDA
is the former owner of Trimp's Ice Art, which merged with Sculpted Ice Works in January 2009. He is now the lead carver at Sculpted Ice Works, Lakeville, PA. He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island. Prior to 2004, Neil held several executive chef positions in a variety of locations including Colorado, New Jersey, Vermont, and Boston, Massachusetts. It was during his culinary experience that he learned to carve ice. Neil has earned several NICA medals as well as a first place at the Stowe, VT annual ice carving competition. He earned second place, and a Silver NICA medal, at the Crystal Cabin Fever ice carving competition in Lakeville in February 2009. Neil is a member of the National Ice Carving Association. Neil is now a Culinary instructor at Sussex County Technical School in Sparta NJ. Neil lives in Sandyston, NJ.
TJ Neary MACAW
is owner and carver of Touch of Ice since 1996. He is a 1987 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. TJ was introduced to the art of ice carving through the culinary field. He has been carving ice for over 20 years. He has over thirty years experience in the restaurant business. He is married with 2 sons. TJ Resides in Staten Island, NY.
Walter Gasiorek SLOTH
Water worked at Sculpted Ice Works for over five years where he held the title of Physical Plant manager as well as vehicle maintenance. He was introduced to ice carving a 3 years ago when he jumped on stage during Crystal Cabin Fever and carved a large ice mug. He was a natural. Walter has traveled to Stowe VT and competed there. He also goes on routine ice carving demonstrations throughout the tri-states. He resides in Lackawaxen, PA
Rich Daly CAIMANS
has been carving ice since 2000 and is the President of Ice Melodies Inc located in Mastic Beach, NY on Long Island. Ice Melodies provides ice sculptures and products to catering halls and private events on Long Island. Throughout the winter he travels to local and nationally sanctioned ice carving competitions. Over the last decade, Rich has pushed himself through competition to be recognized as one of the top carvers on the east coast earning a gold medal at the US National Ice Championships and becoming the US National Speed Ice Carving Champion in 2012. He has won nearly 100 ice carving events across the United States and has received over 40 Medals from National Ice Carving Association recognized events. In 2013 Rich beat the Guinness World Record of “Fastest Ice Carver” While not traveling and carving ice, Rich is employed by the William Floyd School District on Long Island as a Culinary Arts teacher where students learn hands on the ins and outs of the commercial food-service industry.
John Hanson PIRARUCU
Johns career path began with being a graphic designer out in California. He moved back North and worked at a local ski resort and working at Sculpted Ice Works where he holds titles of CNC operator, CNC designer and ice carver. John travels to do onsite ice carving demonstrations and competitions as well. He also owns Cherry Ridge Campground and runs that in the warmer months. John lives in Honesdale, PA
Chad Gasiorek PARROTS
Chad was introduced to ice carving through the culinary field. He is currently a pastry arts teacher at Sussex County Technical School, in Sussex County, New Jersey. Chad has competed in the Salisbury, CT, ice carving competition; the Stowe, VT carving competition; and Crystal Cabin Fever carving competition. In 2008 he earned second place at Crystal Cabin Fever carving competition. Most recently he earned a first place, and a Silver NICA medal in last year's Crystal Cabin Fever Competition. Chad resides in Shohola, PA.
Evan Hughes MAINED WOLF
Evan is the newest member at Sculpted Ice Works. He has only been an ice carver for less than 5 months. It was no surprise that Evan would be a great carver as he is a natural artist. Evan began competitively drawing since second grade and then went on to The School of Visual Arts in NY. Evan went on to be a freelance illustrator and making designs and art for many large corporations and winning awards over the course of his life. Evan is a resident of Scranton Pa.
Jack Vozar is the owner of JV Ice Sculptures and is a Quality Consultant in the medical industry. He has been carving for over ten years. Jack has competed and medaled at both the Stowe, VT, ice carving competition as well as Crystal Cabin Fever ice carving competition, for several years. He earned third place in 2008, and third place and a Bronze NICA medal at Crystal Cabin Fever in 2009. Jack resides in Conyngham, PA.
